• Know what an item really costs to make: Roll material, operation and subcontract cost up the whole structure and see which components have no cost on record instead of a total that quietly assumes zero.
• Change a design without losing the old one: A published version is frozen. The next issue is a new version with its own effective date, so a job built last year can still be read exactly as it was released.
• Check the damage before you approve it: A change request shows the before and after of every bill and routing it carries, line by line, with the cost the change adds or takes out.
• Find everything a component touches: Before substituting or discontinuing a part, list every parent and finished item that consumes it, level by level, as of the date the change would take effect.
• Plan against real capacity: Work centres carry shift length, shifts a day and efficiency, so standard times on a routing translate into minutes the floor can actually deliver.
• Bring your existing recipes across: Production recipes already in Trade Node import as version 1 in one step, and from then on every edit goes through change control.

• Manufacturing Item Master: Keep the making side of an item apart from its trading form: made or bought, the engineering revision in force, purchase and manufacturing lead times, minimum order quantity and order multiple, safety stock and standard yield. Drawings and specifications are attached to the item, so the shop always works from the sheet the office issued.
• Work Centres & Capacity: Define where work actually happens and what an hour of it costs. Shift length, shifts a day and a realistic efficiency give planned capacity per day, and the machines already in your maintenance register are grouped under the centre they belong to instead of being listed twice.
• Versioned Bills of Material: Issue what an item is made of as dated versions rather than editing a list in place. Each component carries its scrap allowance, approved alternates for when the first choice is short, and phantom sub-assemblies that are built through and never stocked. Exactly one version is current on any given date, and a published version can never be altered.
• Explosion, Where-Used & Cost Roll-Up: Blow a finished item down to raw material for any quantity on any date and download the result as a spreadsheet. Ask which parents an item feeds before you change it, and roll material, operation and subcontract cost up the same tree. Circular structures are caught and reported instead of looping forever.
• Routings & Standard Times: Record the ordered operations that make an item, each against a work centre with its setup time, run time per unit and expected loss. Subcontract steps carry the outside charge instead of a machine rate. Routings are versioned by effective date exactly like the bill of materials.
• Engineering Change Control: Nothing changes silently. A change request records what is moving and why, shows the before and after of every affected bill and routing with the cost the change carries, runs through your approval chain when the value crosses your rule, and only then publishes its drafts from the effective date you set.
